Admission Requirements for Engineering Sciences Institute

Applications for graduate programs are evaluated by the respective Admission Jury in line with the specific requirements of the program. Admission is finalized by the approval of the related Graduate School Board upon the recommendation of the Jury and announced to the applicant.

Applicants could be called for written exams and interviews. All written exams and interviews are held in English.

Your registration will be done in case of YOK's(Yuksekogretim Kurulu-Turkish Higher Education Council) approval for the recognition of the university that you have been educated and the compatibility of the education that you have been studied.

Candidates can apply more than one program via internet. For each program applied, seperate application is formed.

Applicants either can submit their application documents, stated in the other required items, in person or can send via post. For each program applied, seperate application is formed.

2. Official Transcript: Sealed and taken from Student Affairs of the applicant's university indicating the courses and grades taken.

3. Two Letters of Recomendation: These should be either submitted online or posted in a sealed envelope . For the sample letter please click here.

5. Result for Graduate Program Entrance Exam : Any of the following science test results baring the min. scores and which are within the validity period as indicated below. Photocopies are acceptable for application, but original copies should be submitted during admission.

ALES and LES are national Graduate Education Exams and compulsary for Turkish citizens only having not GRE or GMAT.

For Applications to Information Technology Graduate Program:

LES / ALES : Numerical : LES min. score 45; ALES min. score 55

The validity period for these scores are as follows: ALES and LES 2 years, ALES 3 years for examinations on and after 16 November 2008; GRE and GMAT 5 years.

Candidates who have been admitted to graduate programs with minimum Graduate Program Entrance Exam but dismissed from the program can be admitted to the same or a different program without a new Graduate Program Entrance Exam Score within at most one semester later upon dismissal. Also, those students who are granted with a Master's degree and are admitted to another graduate program at most one semester later upon graduation are not required to submit a new Graduate Program Entrance Exam Score.

6. English Proficiency Exam Result: Any of the following science test results baring the min. scores and which are within the validity period as indicated below. Photocopies are acceptable for application, but original copies should be submitted during admission.

For Applications to Information Technology Graduate Program:

TOEFL : Min. score 65 in Internet-based test, Min. score 155 in Computer-based test, Min. score 470 in Paper-based test.

IELTS :Min. score 6

KPDS : Min. score 70

ÜDS : Min. score 70

For Applications to Leaders of Industry Graduate Program:

TOEFL : Min. score 83 in Internet-based test, Min. score 215 in Computer-based test, Min. score 555 in Paper-based test.

For Applications to Other Graduate and Ph.D.*  Programs:

TOEFL :Min. score 75 in Internet-based test, Min. score 185 in Computer-based test, Min. score 490 in Paper-based test  

IELTS : Min. score 6,5

KPDS : Min. score 80

ÜDS :Min. score 80

*            International PhD applicants, in addition to the requirement above, must submit a proficiency exam result, accepted by the Council of Higher Education in Turkey (YÖK) from a language other than their native ones, be it English, German or French .

The validity period for these scores are as follows: TOEFL and IELTS 2 years, KPDS and UDS 3 years.

Applicants who could not submit a valid English Proficiency Exam Result may be admitted the program on the condition to get a satisfactory grade from the Sabanci University English Language Exam Assessment (ELAE). Those candidates who fail to attend or get a satisfactory score in the exam are obliged to attend and successfully complete a full course of English Language Preparation in order to continue with graduate courses. Failure to complete this course successfully will result in termination of enrollment at Sabanci University.

Graduates of Sabanci University who are admitted to a MA program are exempt from submitting an English Proficiency Exam score provided that they apply within two years following their graduation.

• An applicant should have an undergraduate or graduate diploma in order to be admitted to a graduate program and a graduate diploma for a doctorate program.
• Applicants must complete their previous degree programs by the admission period at the latest.
• Enrolling more than one graduate program at the same time is not possible.
• A min. gradautaion GPA of 2.70/4.00 or 70/100 is required for applications to Leaders for Industry Gradaute Programs.
